Kiri Cottage Crafts
Kiri cottage is located close to Kircubbin on the Ards Peninsula. This area of outstanding natural beauty has always been a home to women who crafted an income and independence from their sitting rooms. With this area’s strong history of flax spinning, embroidery and bonnet making, learning to craft at Kiri Cottage weaves the past into the present.
Christine can offer demonstrations and workshops in a number of traditional and more modern textile crafts such as spinning, knitting, crochet, peg loom weaving (a simple form of weaving, thought to date back to the Viking era), beaded bracelets, as well as introductions and insights to the traditional bonnet making and tambour lace crafts practised on the peninsula in the 1800s. On the website you’ll find courses currently available and opportunities for bespoke workshops for groups and individuals which always include tea, coffee, freshly home-baked traditional Irish breads and cakes and plenty of craic and blether!
